Ashley and Eric’s story begins in a very modern way—online—but it didn’t take long to realize their connection was anything but ordinary. What first brought them together was a shared love for the city that shaped them both: Detroit. Ashley, a proud West Side native, and Eric, holding it down on the East Side, quickly bonded over nostalgic memories of Belle Isle days, late-night Coney Island runs, and of course, their unwavering loyalty to the Detroit Lions (true love requires patience).

As they got to know one another, it became clear that their connection ran much deeper than hometown pride. Eric was drawn to Ashley’s intense sweetness, her funny, kind spirit, and her deep commitment to her work as a child psychiatrist—showing up every day with compassion and purpose. Ashley, in turn, fell for Eric’s thoughtful acts of service, silly nature, and his dedication to serving others as a firefighter, bravely putting his life on the line for his community.

Spirituality and family are central to both of their lives, grounding their relationship and shaping their shared values. Together, they love discovering new adventures—traveling, hiking, exploring new cities, and eating their way through them as self-proclaimed foodies. At home, you’ll often find them cuddled up with their beloved dog, Goldee, playing games and finding joy and laughter as they unwind from the demands of their careers.

Eric proposed during a surprise trip to Northern California—knowing Ashley’s love for wine and her long-time dream of visiting Napa Valley. On the day of the proposal, Eric blindfolded Ashley until they arrived at Quintessa Estate. They were whisked away by golf cart to a stunning glass structure overlooking a lake and rolling vineyards. When Ashley turned around, Eric had placed a bottle of wine in front of her labeled, “Pairs well with getting engaged.” He then shared all the qualities he loves and admires about her before asking her to be his wife.

She said yes—of course—though not without a laugh, as she had to remind him (in true Ashley fashion) that her middle name is Cecilia.

And so, with love, laughter, faith, family, and a whole lot of Detroit pride, Ashley and Eric can’t wait to begin this next chapter together.
